The Altmetric Attention Digest is now out of Beta!

1. What's new?

We're excited to announce that the Altmetric Attention Digest is officially out of Beta, and is now a standard feature in Altmetric Details Pages. We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who provided feedback during the Beta period — it was invaluable in helping us refine and improve the feature.

Based on your feedback and our continued development, we made a number of significant improvements:

• Added insights from Altmetric’s Sentiment Analysis to the content of the Digest, addressing the most frequent request we received through user feedback

• Improved the logic to define and prioritise the notable mentions highlighted in the Attention Source Specific Analysis section

• Improved the visibility of posts from peak activity days, as well as viral posts from quieter days, to ensure a more consistent analysis of mentions and their evolution over time

As a reminder, this feature is available to all users navigating to Details Pages from the Altmetric Explorer.

2. Where can I find the Altmetric Attention Digest? 

The Attention Digest is available on Altmetric Details Pages, where, at the click of a button, you will be able to display AI-generated summaries that synthesize key metrics, influential sources, and overall reception for individual research outputs.

3. Summary of key features

• Display Structure: The Digest is displayed on a new pop-out drawer on the Details Page. It starts with a high-level narrative summary that highlights key indicators (e.g., policy documents, prominent news), followed by more detailed, source-specific insights.

• Key Context Highlighted: Digests specifically highlight connected events and trigger points that led to surges in attention, providing context that users value highly.

• Focus on Impact Indicators: Content prioritizes key indicators of impact, such as policy documents, clinical guidelines, and prominent news media.

• Transparency: The solution incorporates a robust footprint where every piece of information presented in the Digest has a clear, accessible link back to its original mention, enabling you to verify information.

• User feedback: you will have an option to provide feedback on each Digest you have generated, and let us know what you find valuable, or suggest improvements.
