Altmetric Sentiment Analysis Beta!
Altmetric Sentiment Analysis Beta!
We're excited to announce the Beta launch of Altmetric Sentiment Analysis, a powerful new feature designed to give you a deeper understanding of how your research is being discussed online. Going beyond simple mention counts, this tool uses advanced AI to analyze the qualitative reception of your research outputs.
What is Sentiment Analysis? Sentiment Analysis helps you understand the opinion expressed in online mentions of your research. Our AI-powered system assigns a sentiment score (from strongly negative, to strongly positive) to X (formerly Twitter) and Bluesky posts, indicating whether the conversation around your work is positive, negative, or neutral. This provides invaluable context, helping you assess real-world impact, manage reputation, and refine your communication strategies.
Key Features You'll See in Beta:
Sentiment Breakdown Charts: Get a visual overview of the overall sentiment for individual research outputs on Details Pages and for collections of outputs in Altmetric Explorer's Highlights tab.
Sentiment Indicators on Individual Mentions: See the sentiment rating directly alongside each X and Bluesky mention on both Details Pages and within the Mentions Tab of Altmetric Explorer.
Sentiment Filtering: Easily filter mentions by their sentiment in the Mentions Tab of Altmetric Explorer to focus on specific types of feedback.
Direct Feedback Loop: Provide feedback on assigned sentiment scores directly within the platform to help us refine the AI model for improved accuracy.
Important Beta Information: This is an open Beta launch, available to all Altmetric Explorer users, and we value your input. Initially, the Beta will include sentiment data for publications from 2024 and 2025. We are actively processing mentions for older publications, and these will be released and announced in batches in the coming weeks through in-app notifications.
We currently have sentiment analysis for all output types apart from books and chapters - because of the way these are related the scoring and aggregation is more complex. We expect to release sentiment analysis for books and chapters after the beta. Sentiment analysis is currently available for all output types except books and chapters. Due to their complex relationships, scoring and aggregation for these formats require further development. We anticipate releasing sentiment analysis for books and chapters following the beta phase.
We're excited for you to explore beyond the numbers and gain richer insights into your research's impact!
